The political dialogue table scheduled for this Wednesday afternoon between the Government and the Generalitat in Barcelona will have empty seats if Junts per Catalunya does not rectify its proposal for participants, which includes party members who are not part of the Catalan Executive. The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, vetoed this proposal, but from Junts they see Moncloa as guilty, which also showed its rejection of any formula other than that of positions from both administrations. However, the general secretary of Junts, Jordi Sànchez, denied that this situation opens “no crisis” in the Government.
Junts has shown their reluctance regarding the usefulness of the dialogue table since the beginning of the legislature, but the deputy general secretary and ERC spokesperson, Marta Vilalta, asked Junts for “loyalty”, and considered that “this is not the time for frivolity or maneuvers to make the table fail “.
Faced with the disagreements in the Catalan delegation, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, hardened his speech in the plenary session of Congress, calling on the independentists not to set deadlines and to make self-criticism, as well as to convene a table in Catalonia with all the Catalan parties , and be flexible on the issues to be discussed in the media dialogue with the Government.
Likewise, several voices from all over Spain criticized this bilateral meeting on the verge of taking place. Thus, the president of the Xunta, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, criticized that the Government “rewards” the Generalitat with a “private” dialogue forum, and warned that the rest of the autonomies “have the right to know” what is agreed and “what is being distributed” at the dialogue table. The Minister of the Presidency and spokesman for the Andalusian Government, Elías Bendodo, made it clear that the Board will not tolerate that the table “serves as an alibi to break equality” among Spaniards.
The entities La España que Reúne, Impulso Ciudadano and S’ha acabat also defend a debate beyond the Catalan independentists. For this reason, they propose the creation of a Parliamentary Commission in which all political parties with parliamentary representation, civil associations and experts participate, “to rigorously study the deficiencies of our current territorial model and lay the foundations to articulate a new participatory project, inclusive, transparent and that conforms to the law “.
Appointment by parts
Today’s meeting will begin with a meeting between Pedro Sánchez and Pere Aragonés at 3:00 p.m., after which they will appear before the media. Then, around 5:00 p.m., the bilateral meeting of the Government and Generalitat delegations will take place, chaired by Sánchez and Aragonés. In it, it is expected that the leaders inform the rest of the attendees of the conclusions they have reached and, after that, leave the meeting when they consider, so that the teams continue working, reported Europa Press .
