The National Geographic Institute (IGN) has reported that 58 earthquakes have been detected from 04:18 this Saturday to 08:23 this Sunday , of which 29, all of small magnitude , have been located in the south of the Canary Island. from La Palma.

The largest magnitude was 2.0 mbLg. The seismic movements have been detected at a depth of between 10 and 13 kilometers, as explained by the institution in charge of their control in Spain.

In that area of ​​La Palma, up to nine seismic series with similar characteristics have occurred since October 2017. This type of event in an active volcanic zone is within normality and does not present any risk to the population.

The previous one occurred last June with 80 small earthquakes . The one reached a higher magnitude was one of 2.2 mbLg, somewhat higher than that experienced now, despite the fact that the depth then was between 18 and 34 kilometers.
